Volunteer Opportunities
We are planning our return during spring break of 2011. Here is how you can participate:
- As a high school student: get your Rotary Interact club excited about a project; e.g. the support of a feeding center, collecting hygiene packages (toothbrushes and toothpaste), notebooks and library books and last but not least, travel with us!
- As a college student: same deal, get your Roteract club involved and join us on our trip
- As a rotary club: we are looking for clubs who like to support an international project: adopt a feeding center, build a clinic or part of a childrens hospital
- As an individual: find a Rotarian/sponsor who can go with you to participate in our trips
Success Stories
In 2011, we provided basic medications and parasite pills as well as vitamins to hundreds of children community in the borough EL Limonal in Chinandega, who live adjacent to the city dump. We funded the construction of a one-class room school in that area so that the first grade can meet inside instead of in the open air. We fed many children at several feeding centers and delivered the first batch of computers to schools as part of a Rotary grant project. We brought with us many medical supplies for the clinics we supported over the past several years. We also funded the construction of a small library in Corinto. In 2010, we built a clinic in El Benito, built and equipped a feeding center in Limonal and a kitchen in Corintho, and delivered medical equipment to the children's hospital and school supplies to the children. Click for a summary of the 2010 project.
In 2009, we built one new clinic, doubled the size of an existing clinic, and delivered medical equipment to the childrens hospital. Click for a summary of the 2005-2009 projects.
In 2008, we provided two additional rooms to Clinic built in 2007. Provided hygiene packets to over 250 children in two local schools. Click for a summary of the project
